God has all the same jealous, petty, cruel, racist, bloodthirsty, and vindictive character flaws as the Bronze Age goat fuckers who invented him. What a coincidence!
A long while ago, I saw a stat that some guy had compiled about the Old Testament. He counted the number of people God/Yahweh had killed (or ordered to be killed) as about 6 million. Then he tallied the number of people Satan killed: 6 (six). I haven't gone back to check the numbers myself, but having read the entire O.T. at one point in my life, it doesn't sound too far off. Kind of tells you who the real baddy is in the story. Yahweh is really, really into slaughtering as many people as possible to get his way. Are we seeing a repeat of this in Gaza?
The Bible has been tampered with and misinterpreted by the church. I refused to believe it was the word of God or if it was he was very confused. For people who are Christians, whom I am not, the New Testament meant a new direction. If you are going to reference from the Old Testament you are referencing the Old Laws, the Hebrew laws. Christ was a Jew, not a Christian. He did not come as the messiah. He was the new age teacher of that time. He never came to start a new church. If the Bible is read from the Greek and the Aramaic and referring to the customs of the time Jesus lived, it makes more sense. Christian Consciousness is all about love and teaches not to judge others. Near death experiencers learn that we are powerful creators. We can create a hell but there is no hell except for those who believe in it, therefore creating it. If you read the books of Lars Muhl he gives the original meanings and the true story of Jesus. They are fascinating. But there is no need to believe anything. Everything you need is within yourself. I believe, and it is more of a knowing, there is a Source, a Consciousness that we all have access to. It is energy. From it one can receive creativity. I believe all great artists, inventors, etc. tap into to it. We are in it and of it. We have free will. No right or wrong. Good or bad. We need to follow the laws of the land or the land will penalize us. You most likely have your own idea of what the best way to treat others and be treated by others. But you we all have free will. So you can choose. This is a small piece of what I have learned. My brother was an atheist. He crossed over years ago. His spirit, which gave his body life, left his body but still exists. Who and what really is does not die. Nothing is lost it just changes form. That is a whole lot to take in. But I hope it peaks your curiosity.
Yeah! You hit all the reasons I thought the Bible was a pretty terrible story about a really horrendous being that was named “god.” I had to go to an evangelical school K-8th grade and Bible study started every day. They lost my in Sunday school when I was about 3 because the idiot teacher said that animals didn’t go to heaven because they didn’t have souls. Being a clairvoyant child I could plainly see for myself that animals did indeed have souls. I figured that if they were lying about something anybody could see, what else would they lie about? I suspended my willingness to accept what they said as truth ever after and that antipathy was confirmed in high school and solidified in college. Hypocrisy abounds in what is labeled Christianity but has absolutely NOTHING to do with the teaching of Jeshua Ben Joseph (his actual Aramaic name). If you want to call yourself Christian, you MUST eschew the teachings of the Old Testament Bible AND the teachings of Saul who was definitely a misogynist and criminal and Peter as well. Jeshua taught only LOVE.
In Answer to Job, C.G.Jung talks about a god who can only be as conscious as the collective projecting him or her. And then Joseph Campbell, paraphrasing here, allows that the the Bible is the mythology of a primitive Bedoin tribe. Sounds just about right to me.
I’ve always rejected the Old Testament. I personally don’t believe in god (ya, total a-hole invention) but I’ll willingly submit that the New Testament is a pretty good prescription for how to live one’s life.
And God commanded the blood sacrifice of all first born male babies
Exodus 22:29-30
You must give me the firstborn of your sons. 30 Do the same with your cattle and your sheep. Let them stay with their mothers for seven days, but give them to me on the eighth day.
Ezekiel 20:25-26
So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live; 26 and I defiled them through their gifts—the sacrifice of every firstborn—that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord.’
Carl Jung, son of a preacher, realized what an asshole God was in the Old Testament. So he wrote a book called Answer to Job, which points out the absurdity of the All-Knowing Creator allowing himself to be tricked by Satan into bringing a world of woe down in Job, who was a good man who paid tribute to God faithfully. “Why me, God?” Is Job’s final cry to the irrational universe that took everything from him. How many of us have not said the same under stresses that felt as if they would break us? Jung posited that God’s awareness widen so that he became the much nicer God of the New Testament. Job taught God how to be God, in other words. It may make no difference to an atheist to know this, and it was only of academic interest to me, but I found the book a revelation—the idea that God, the All-Knowing, could learn from a human being. It speaks to the relationship between humans and gods. In the end I found the idea of the Greek gods or the ideas of gods held by the Navajo made more sense to me. I took a lot of LSD in the 1960s, which left me with convictions if not beliefs.
This is why I have immense problems with "religion."
When these clowns get back in charge of our country, to use a good pun, there will be the devil to pay.
Remember, unless the rapist was a black man jumping out of a bush and attacking your white wife or daughter or both as they returned from a church service...she "deserved it."
The two testaments have a good cop bad cop thing going on.

This is really good stuff, Oliver! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the nice feedback! I really appreciate it!
You got it dude! We're all here just doing our little parts in this war, separately but together at the same time. Fight on, brother.

He had plenty of New Testament verses in there
New subscriber here, I like your work 👍🏼
Thank you! I'm glad you like it! ❤️
Good lord … when will the inbred holyrollers finally kill themselves? It’s a life-long headache. I don’t care about their inbred village god.
Very well written.
Thank you, Evreht! :)

Love your writing! I knew some of this but not nearly as much as you have described. Insightful and depressing!
Thank you Thomas! I'm glad you like my stuff! :)
